Publish Your Digital Pictures Online

By Laura Kay

Digital photos are everywhere you look these days! Working with electronic pictures instead of the traditional film and paper print photos is cost-effective, there is no wasted paper to end up in the garbage and they take up virtually no physical space at all! It seems like almost everyone has a cell phone camera these days that can take images of just about anything in a matter of seconds.

Whether you're an expert photographer or an amateur shutterbug you'll still appreciate the convenience of digital photography. And what is better than just snapping lots of digital photos is the fun way you can share them with other people. There are lots of different ways to share your photos, from electronic picture frames to printing them out to keeping them on your mobile phone. Starting your own blog is a great side project for almost anyone, whether you are a busy mother, high school student or even a retiree.

One of the newest ways to share your images to others is with a photography blog. A "web log" or blog is a website that allows an author to post instant updates onto Internet about just about any subject imaginable. A photo "web log" can feature the digital images you took on any specific day or trip. You can include comments about your photos and you can tell people about why you snapped the images and what was happening when you took them.

To begin a photography blog you only need to find some free blogging software and pick a blog name. Most blogging sites are fairly simple to get started with. You just type your thoughts out in a post, insert your digital photographs from your computer and the blogging site pretty much does the rest. When you are satisfied with a post you "publish" it and anyone on the internet can instantly see it!

Remember a blog can be a 2-way communication tool! With a photo blog you can not only allow others to see your photos but you can also allow people to comment on your posts. Getting commends from visitors to your blog is part of the excitement of putting your images online. If you allow comments on your images then you can also discover what other people like and do not like about your images.

You can post some images of a recent trip one day and then post images of some grass in your front yard the next day. Don't worry about always writing a post that's going to make other people happy. It's your photo blog and you can post pictures of whatever you like. Just try to enjoy the ability to publish your electronic photos so easily with your own blog!
