All About Disposable Digital Cameras

By Clifford Gill

Disposable Cameras (also called single-use cameras) first came on the market as film cameras. You would take the entire camera back where you bought it and they would crack it open, take out the film and process it, resulting in photos that were virtually indistinguishable from photos taken with a more conventional camera. If you're interested in these cameras, you'd be glad to know you can now choose between digital disposable cameras and the old film camera versions.

Digital disposable cameras are, by design, easy to use, giving them an advantage for people overwhelmed by conventional digital cameras.

A flash and timer would be standard on all disposable digital camera models, while some may even have a viewing monitor. This means that you can see whether you want to take the picture over or not, as you also have the ability to delete an unwanted photo, and retake it if you have the opportunity. Additionally, a free picture CD is usually included with your prints in a disposable digital camera package.

Many people want to know whether a disposable digital camera comes with exactly the same features as conventional digital cameras. Well, the features mentioned above are all in there, but in terms of doohickeys, you wouldn't get many of those, neither would you be able to zoom in or take night photos. But the best thing about disposable digital cameras, in a nutshell, is the fact that you don't have to pay several hundreds to buy one, and you could just leave your expensive camera at home where it's safe, and still get high-end technology for the dirt-cheap price of $20 or even less.

If you are thinking about plugging your disposable digital camera into your PC or Mac, then think again. You would have to have your photos developed at a special retailer that supports your brand of disposable digital camera and has the right equipment for the job. But for those who aren't too techno-savvy (meaning a lot of us, mind you), this could be a huge advantage, as this eliminates the clueless feeling you would get when cropping photos, adjusting the color and dragging your kids away from their video games or other activities just to have them help you out. Time is gold.
